  • DDR3 2133 running at 1600

I just bought 16 GB of GSkill ram (4x4). I enter my bios and it says that 16 GB of ram are running at 1600. How do i make it 2133 ?

    my spec:
    i5 3570k
    16GB ram
    ASRock Z77 Extreme4
    ATI 7950 GB 3GB ram
    120 Corsair ssd
    1tb HDD

btw, while i was in the bios, there is a tap in bios call Oc Tweaker. I scrolled down to the Ram section, and i see that the Ram is being set to AUTO. When i open it, i see i can set it to other frequency including 2133. I tried that, it works, the Bios show that the ram is at 2133, but because i have to go to the Oc Tweaker (which i think this section is only for Overclocking) to turn it on 2133. So i put i back to Auto. I did not want to keep it at 2133 because i thought i shouldnt have to overclock it to 2133 because this Ram is a DDR3 2133, which it has to be automatically stay at 2133 without me overclocking it.

Go to OC tweaker as you did, select XMP in the DRAM section, then below it Profile 1, this enable XMP and set the system to run at 2133 (which will require an OC, generally anything 1866 and up does require an OC, that's why when you look at motherboard specs under DRAM it will show the Memory Standards as like 1333, 1600, 1866 (OC), 2133 (OC)--> etc the OC indicates an OC is required at spec freq - if any problems let me kknow what BIOS you are running, some of them for this particular mobo suck. It's the same one I'm using right this minute
