  • F3-17000CL9Q2-32GBZH on Asus Rampage Extreme IV

    Hi, I have a 32gb set (one set) of F3-1700CL9Q2-32GBZH Ripjaws (9-11-10-28, ddr 2133).
I have trouble getting Asus Rampage Extreme IV to see all 32 Gb. If I enable XMP I can boot fine with 16GB.

If I boot with 32gb, the board only sees 16gb (although if I do DIMM post, it can see all 8 sticks). And will report OC error on POST. Weirdly it reports sticks as 1600s (even when I run 16gb, it reports them as 1600s running at 2133).

I have the latest bios. I tried changing bios oc settings to no avail, it just will not boot (typically will report 6F error ~ System Agent DXE initialization in Asus book).

I have EZ_PLUG_2 connected (for extra power to dram) but it does not help in any way.

Modules themselves seem to be fine, when i test them in 16gb conf (I tried all of them). I am wondering if motherboard is defective (or is it just plain incompatible with these sticks).

If anyone is running Asus Rampage IV Extreme with these sticks, could you please post your bios configuration I would be more than grateful.

    Thanks.

Could try raising the VCCSA to 1.25 -1.27 to see if that helps, been seeing a lot of problems with this mobo on the net and large amounts of DRAM from a few manufacturers. These sticks were designed for X79 and quad-channel using XMP 1.3 so should be fine if ASUS has their BIOS up to snuff, have you tried contacting ASUS?

Hi, yeah I am registering on their forums right now to ask this question.
I tried vccsa at even higher, with no luck. I think memory is fine, it's the board that's giving me problems

I will post back if I find anything useful
      Thanks again,

Well their latest BIOS is 1101, found below) and was the third update in less than 6 weeks, reviews have identified a number of assorted problems (including dead DIMM slots, if this is a new (less than 30 days) purchase might consider return/exchange, believe the Egg gives 30 days and generally if you let them know it's defective, they will send a return shipping label

I ran some extensive tests and it seems memory is (as usual, g.skill) is plain awesome buzzing with 0 errors. I think my board is indeed faulty. I will wait a few days (I want to see what people on rog forums are to say) before doing the RMA. Sadly I did not get this board at the egg, was out of stock and I got it more than 30 days ago. It seems I have to do it through Asus (unfortunately I do not have a good experience dealing with their RMA dept, but I have hope).

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it, Tradesman.

Hi, I am back, received RMA Rampage Extreme IV board, however I am having a set of different issues now.

It seems that I cannot run this set F3-17000CL9Q2-32GBZH at XMP settings (mode1, 9-11-10-28, 1.65v, 2133), I always get overclock failed message upon boot or I even don't get to post (I get 6F error). What's even stranger, it boots just fine with 1.5v when timings are set manually, although system still locks up eventually/just freeze, typically with sound looping). I have latest bios 1101, my vccsa is set to 1.250.

Additionally, I would like to ask why Asus recommends running this memory at 9-11-9-28 (not 9-11-10-28) in their QVL (they don't have 32gb set, but 4gb sticks are there).

Can anyone comment anything on this? Appreciate it. Thanks

Sounds like the System Agent isn't initializing right, which may be a BIOS issue, could try raising VCCSA higher, maybe 1.29 or even a touch more - a couple of threads I dug up earlier might help
