Real Temp 3.70

Great tool to monitor CPU core temperatures. Especially when overclocking, pushing frequency to the limit, and stress testing for stability, this program is handy to remind you of danger! Especially with the new LGA 2011 CPUs and Extreme Series CPUs in general, they're not cheap! so don't catch yourself slipping. Safety first.

Prime95

Find prime numbers! But this program is best used as a stress test to place your system under 100% load. If you can pass 30min-1hr of this torture, chances are your settings are stable. Keep in mind that CPU temps can be at their highest while running this test, so make sure to keep an eye out on the CPU temps to avoid damage. Many CPUs have failed while running this test, so once again, be very careful and always make sure you have proper cooling.

memtest86+ V4.20

If experiencing blue screens, random shut downs/restarts, memory type issues, use this program to test for errors. With the proper settings in EFI/BIOS, test one module at a time to determine whether it contains any errors. A perfect module will be error free. If the program detects errors, you may need to get an RMA and have the memory replaced.

CPU-Z 1.60

This program displays general information about your CPU, mainboard, and memory. Much of the desired information such as CPU/memory frequency, timings, multipliers, CPU VCore, SPD timings table, can be found with this software. The memory tab is most important when overclocking memory; it will display current DRAM frequency, timings, and other pertinent values. Note, DRAM Frequency shows real frequency, not effective frequency, so if it shows 800MHz, that means it is DDR3-1600.

If it shows 1200MHz, that means it is DDR3-2400. DDR is double data rate, so real frequency x2 = effective frequency.

Well i overclocked my AMD FX 6100 with the Asus OC software ,since im just getting in too OC i let the Asus software do it for me as i didnt want to mess up ..but anyways it took my FX6100 on fast settings from 3.3Ghz to 3.8GHz & extreme settings from 3.3GHz to 4.2GHz so i was impressed with that .
But its odd when i saved the OC settings Windows 7 still detected it as 3.3GHz rather than 3.8GHz or 4.2GHz .
Maybe i should take a screenshot next time of the OC?

If you have some of the power saving features on in the BIOS like Speedstep, it will idle down to stock when little activity, if you run a program like MaxxMem, up on top of the window it will display what the CPU is set for
