  • Computer freezing after installing new RAM....

I have an older Abit NF8 V2 motherboard....

that I just purchased new RAM for.

After installing the new RAM the computer randomly freezes to the point of having to reboot. What could be the problem?

1GB or 2? Do you have the latest BIOS? May want to take voltage on the DRAM up a little. If that doesn't help could you post up your BIOS settings

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

I've updated my info in my original post.

Upgrading from 2 of these which gave me only 1 gb RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134028

SO you are adding or using the new as standalone? Need info from the BIOS as to DRAM timings, system voltages, etc

The new is stand alone (out with the old, in with the new).

Please bear with me, I'm not the most computer literate person. My brother built the cpu for me and usually maintains it. But getting him here to do so is a real pain.

Hopefully this is the nfo you need....

Thank you for taking the time to look at this.

Try the DRAM voltage at 2.75 and let me know, will be out most of the day, but GSkill may be in, otherwise I'll be back late this afternoon

I should have said this earlier.... the DRAM voltage was set at default 2.60 till last night. I raised it to 2.70 with no change. Will try 2.75

Well, as it turns out, the only voltage setting that are available are....

                  2.50
                  2.55
                  2.60 (default)
                  2.65
                  2.70
                  2.80

Since there wasn't an option for 2.75 and I had already tried 2.70 I set it for 2.80....

                  No change, still freezing randomly.

                  I have tried so far 2.60 2.70 and 2.80
