  • Sniper heat spreaders falling off

    Hi Guys:-)

I was just inside my PC and happened to find that the heat spreaders on my RAM aren't sticking to the RAM anymore. I was just wondering if there is any kind of product I can buy to glue them back on. This is my RAM:

    G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR

Also, while browsing the forums for a possible answer, I came across this thread:

    http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=11742

and was just wondering. what does this mean exactly? I've had my RAM for 5 years now, have I not been utilizing it properly since? Here are my specs:

    MotherBoard - GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990X + SB950 6 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

    CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb Quad-Core 3.2 GHz Socket AM3 125W HDZ955FBGMBOX Processor

    RAM - G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR

    CPU Freq - 200
    Memory Clock - 8X
    CPU Clock Ratio - AUTO
    CPU NB Frea - AUTO
Timings - AUTO, and I can't tell which timings are what, don't have my manual anymore

    Thanks for any help.

you can remove them and the memory will work fine

OEMs uses doubled sided tape to attach them
    Corsair Carbide 300R & TX850V2
    Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0
    AMD Phenom II X4 965 C3 Black Edition 125W
    G.SKILL F3-17000CL11-4GBXL + Micron 8KTF25664AZ-1G6M1
EVGA GTX 660 Ti FTW Signature 2
    Asus PA238QR

If you would like, you can send them in for RMA exchange and we can send you new modules:

Can I still RMA them after 5 years? Also, is it necessary?

Yes, G.Skill memory modules are backed by a manufacturer lifetime warranty.

It is only necessary if you want new modules with attached heat spreaders, otherwise the system can still be used with that module not having a heat spreader
