  • CPU Coolers compatible with Ripjaws F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL

    Hello,

I'm looking into getting an aftermarket CPU cooler (air cooling) for my Intel i5 2500 processor. Can any of you offer advice regarding coolers that will provide enough clearance with G.Skill Ripjaws memory modules, model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL?

    Here are my System Specs:

    CPU: Intel i5 2500 LGA 1155 Model: BX80623I52500
    - 3.3Ghz / 3.7Ghz (Turbo Boost) - 95 Watt

    Mem: G.SKILL Ripjaws 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333
    (PC3 10666) Model: F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL
    Total: 16GB CAS Latency: 9-9-9-24-2N Volts: 1.5
    Height: 40 mm / 1.58 inch

    Motherboard: MSI P67S-C43 (B3) Socket: LGA 1155
    Chipset: Intel PG67

Videocard: EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 55NM
    896 MB DDR3 Model: 896-P3-1257

    Power Supply: CORSAIR TX650 V2 650W PSU
    Model: CMPSU-650TXV2 +12V Rail: 53 Amps

Not the fanciest or most expensive, but I've got a Zalman CNPS5X on an 1155/P67/2500K running 4.8+ and it keeps things in the mid 30s up to low 60's under heavy load, pretty good for $30 and does not intrude on the sticks at all, it stays above the mounting holes around the CPU

There are plenty of others, not sure what kind of budget or needs

      Tradesman,

Thanks for the advice. I'll like to keep the price as low as possible but no more than $75.

I'm currently using the stock cooler and I'm not overclocking. I sit at around 30C - 35C when idling and when running a game the system between 62C-68C. I tested the system in Prime95 when it was newly built (around 2 months ago) and it quickly went to 80C. I beleive that these are within the normal ranges for the stock cooler.

I used Coretemp, Speedfan and the MSI Control Center to make sure the temps are accurate and the above measurements, with the exception of the MSI Control Center, are based on CPU core readings.

I'd like to be able to overclock a little or have more breathing room when running more intense programs.

      Thanks

The Zalman would prob be good for you, another popular one for 1155 mobos is the Hyper 212 Plus, which oft times does get in the way of RAM but can be raised a tab higher to allow for tall DRAM heatsinks, you can also mount the fan on the rearward side as a push rather than the front side pull

Most will work just fine. NewEgg has been having specials on ones like the Xigmatek. They require mail in rebate, but it's a shot at getting them super cheap.

If you don't really want to deal with mail in rebates, and just want bang for the buck, you can't go wrong with these:

I like this one because it is basically silent and it cools just as well as the big chunky ones.

But I have to say fitment will be TIGHT. It is a perfect** fit, meaning you would probably have to install the memory in the first slot, then install the CPU cooler.

          Thank you
