  • Can't get system to post with ram at 2000mhz

    Using

    G.SKILL Trident 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-16000CL9T-6GBTD

    with

EVGA 141-BL-E757-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX X58 SLI LE Intel Motherboard

I followed the guide exactly and the system won't post

    I have managed to OC my Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920

    Working config:

    cpu clock ratio 20x
    cpu host freq 191 -- target 4018mhz
    target memory freq - 1530mhz
    cpu uncore 3252mhz 17x

    qpi - 4.8 gt/s

    volts:

    cpu vcore 1.35
    qpi pll vcore 1.35
    dimm volt 1.65

    timings

    8
    8
    8
    19

soon as I raise cpu to 200 my system wont post.

if i raise uncore, system wont post.

I'd like to hit 2000mhz . the reason i bought this ram.

    Thanks.

Your best bet may be to start out at stock setting, for these sticks that's 9-9-9-24, command rate 2T and voltage at 1.65.

You will however need an OC on the CPU to hit 2000, will probably have to adjust the advanced timings and some of the voltages. Depending on the OC, you may even have to relax the base timings, whereas you have tightened them with your 8-8-8-19 settings.

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

What stepping is your CPU? Try these settings:

      CPU Clock Ratio - 16 X for 3.2GHz
      CPU Host Frequency - 200
      CPU Uncore Frequency - 4000
      Spread Spectrum - Disabled

      Memory Feature (submenu)
      Memory Control Setting - Enabled
      Memory Frequency - 2000MHz / 2:10

      tCL Setting - 9
      tRCD Setting - 9
      tRP Setting - 9
      tRAS Setiing - 24
      Command Rate - 2T
      The rest can be AUTO.

      Voltage Control (submenu)
      CPU VCore - 1.350V
      CPU VTT Voltage - +100mV
      CPU PLL VCore - 1.900V
      DIMM Voltage - 1.65V
      QPI PLL VCore - 1.550V
      IOH Vcore - 1.300V
      IOH/ICH I/O Voltage - 1.600V
      ICH VCore - 1.200V

      CPU Feature (submenu)
      Intel SpeedStep - Disabled
      Turbo Mode Function - Disabled
      CxE Function - Disabled
      Execute Disable Bit - Enabled
      Virtualization Technology - Enabled

      Intel HT Technology - Enabled
      Active Processor Cores - All

      QPI Control Settings - Enabled
QPI Link Fast Mode - Enabled
      QPI Frequency Selection - 4000

Let me know how that goes.

        Your guide at http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=1320

        has

        Command Rate - 1T

        may be my problem.

Think so, or at least part of it. 1T is too tight (I think) for your mobo and even 1600 RAM let alone 2000

Yea, E757 may not be able to handle it. Some of the higher models can which is why we state 1T on the guide. Sorry about that.

That was progress. It posted but did not boot.

              What can I change now?

Is that D0 or C0 stepping CPU?

This is my stable environment. I am happy with my CPU speed. Really just need the ram to preform at the mhz it is able to.

Make sure you manually set timings. With those timings they will definitely be unstable.

Man I miss playing games all day. haha

Yeah I do manually set the timings to what you said but then system wont boot.

If I leave the timings alone the system boots and automatically adjusts them to 11/11/11/28
