  • [Known Bug] Is your software constantly crashing? (May 2016 releases or earlier)

Is your software constantly crashing or not able to open after the first install?

We have identified a bug that causes the software to crash or not open when Profiles are created with period characters in the profile name. This applies to KM780/KM780R RGB, KM780/KM780R MX, and MX780 series products.

Please make sure profile names do not contain "." (period) character.

The following are possibilities that might cause the software to stop responding.

    1. "." (period) or "Space" character as last character in profile name
    - An error will pop up, choosing to continue will revert the profile name to the name before renaming.
    - This follows the Windows OS rule for not allowing period or space character as the last character for folder names. The Windows OS will automatically remove the period or space character from the folder name.

    2. "." (period) character is used within the profile name, either as first character or inserted in the middle.
    - This will cause the software to unable to locate and load the correct profile folder. After rebooting the computer with a profile name saved to device, the period character will also cause software to crash due to unable to load correct settings.

To correct this issue, please revert your firmware back down to 37 (http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=13957), then install the latest version of the software. This should clear the settings on your keyboard and clear any profile names with the period character. Please do not import profiles that includes the period character in the profile name.

This period issue does not impact or affect other exported files or names (including modes, lighting profiles, macros, etc.). This issue only affects profile names.

This bug will be fixed in a future software update. Check back for the specific version number that will fix this issue.

Thank you all for your understanding.

UPDATE: This issue has been resolved on the KM780 RGB keyboard from software version 0.104 (Jun 30, 2016) and onward. KM780 MX keyboard is pending update.
UPDATE: KM780 MX fix has been implemented in software version 0.89.
