  • few questions about RMA

Alright, I just wanted to ask a few questions before I submitted my RMA request. If you guys could help me out with any of these, I appreciate it.

    1) I submit the form without the RMA number first, and then finish the form once I get an RMA number back, right?

    2) Does G.skill provide the shipping label for me to send back my RAM? I know my friends' RMAs with different companies have done so.

    3) If they don't, how much does it cost to ship? I'm concerned about having to include a tracking number since I thought they were pretty expensive, like $50 or so with USPS...

Shipping with a tracking number doesn't cost $50.. its more like $5 total if you ship via Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation.

Isn't that just for like an e-mail stating that they delivered the package?

When I RMA'ed my motherboard, the post office clerk asked me if I wanted a tracking number and when I asked how much it cost, he replied with a pretty high number. I don't remember what it was exactly, but it was >$20. I used those flat-rate priority boxes.

        Dear Customer,

        1) Submit your completed RMA Request Form. We will issue an RMA# on that form
        2) You will be responsible for the shipping to us. We will cover the shipping back to you.
        3) A tracking # is not required.

Ahh, thank you for clearing that up. Lot cheaper this way, haha.

Also, what if this is my second RMA? I RMA'd with Newegg the first time and this is the second time.

Also, since only one of the sticks seems to be messed up, should I return half my kit (1/2) or the whole set? I've heard your customer service say that sometimes shipping only one stick can cause problems when we get the new one back...

How long would you say that the total process takes...? I mean, like 4 days to ship there, probably, then around 2 weeks to get back?

              Dear Customer,

You're only required to send in the defective stick for replacement; however, it is recommended that you send the complete kit in for replacement. The turnaround time would probably be around 3 weeks total. You will be responsible for the shipping to us, we will cover the shipping back to you.
