  • would that be that those higher results in write speed are due to a faster memory and system ? My system:
    IDE setup. win 7 on phenom II x4 3.31ghz .... memory at 1066 DDR2, kind of slow. Falcon 64g 20% full.

    • found this at http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-...ahci-ssds.html

      According to a bulletin on the OCZ site;

      AHCI is not official supported on OCZ SSDs and may under some circumstances affect performance,
      specifically during windows installation. Enabling AHCI can result in higher performance in synthetic
      benchmarks for SSDs and HDDs alike, but can cause hang-ups and intermittent freezes in SSDs since it allows multiple access requests to compete for a drive that is not made to address re-ordering of commands in the queue. We recommend AHCI is set to disabled in both Windows and in the BIOS.
      Native Command Queuing greatly increases the performance of standard rotational drives but it has no bearing on SSDs.

      ------

      by looking at the benchmark in here, I'm not convince at all that AHCI would help . I keep the IDE mode for now

        • Poor performance from Falcon II 64 B

          When I first bought the 64GB Falcon SSD it gave a benchmark result over 220MB/Sec as per the specs.

          Since then I have loaded Windows XP and Flight Simulator X, plus a few small programs. The results were dropping so I did an optimised defrag on the drive and the results dropped even further. THinking I should not have defragged I re-imaged the SSD and re-installed Windows XP and FSX over a fully formatted partition.

          The results since then have remained as follows give or take a couple of percent:

          This would appear to be less than half the advertised rate for this SSD. I have applied the tweaks listed on this forum and have no further idea on what I should do to increase the speed to what it should be or declare my SSD a dud.

          Comments or suggestions anyone?

                Decent? Slow? The drive is about 1 week old.

                          • I've had my Falcon II 64Gig drive running since Dec 2009.

                            Today I benched it for this thread.

                            Trim under Windows 7 seems to be doing it's job.
