Hi,
I saw a program called 'AS-Cleaner' on the web. The program will write "FF" to free space on a SSD. I like this option better than SecureErase, because it won't actually erase data. It's designed to improve write speeds, and can be used to maintain the free space (clean the dirty bits).
I've heard some chatter about the SandForce garbage clean-up. Does the controller clean dirty bits that arise in the free space? I imagine the task would delegated to a background service, which would make it desirable to leave the computer on idle for some period of time.
I have a Phoenix Pro 120 GB (the P2) and two Phoenix 60 GB (also the P2) as RAID0. All three disks have firmware 3.1.
So, I am thinking of giving "AS-Cleaner" a try. Does GSkill have an opinion on this program?
Thanks GSkill for your help.
