i just did a bench mark, and im really sad at such low speeds im getting..
    did i do something wrong?

AHCI is set in the bios.

i also used gparted to erase the drive before W7install due to about 5 w7 installs ( had some bluescreens unrelated to the drive for about a month.)

    so... whats going on here?

its a phoenix pro 64gb. drive

    running on amd 6core 3,2gz
    gigabyte board 890gpa ud3h
    4 gigs ram

no option i see to post image.. but im getting
    read/write
    seq 172/129
    512k 166/129
    4k 27/45
    4kqd32 27/45

To be honest, chances are you have a "strange / problematic" drive too.
        Read this thread here:

Post your HD Tune bench and lets find out.

You can try Parted Magic earse your SSD.
I am follow the G.Skill guide and step by step.
          Eventually get pretty good results.

Parted Magic ,Save your low performance SSD

            thanks..
i will try that today, then post my results.

on another note, i just installed a 40gb pheonix pro ssd on my other computer...
and that gets the listed performance of 270 /260

HOPEFULLY i really dont have a bad drive for this computer.. that would really suck..
man i have been having bad luck with this computer build now.... first motherboard, then ram, and now a slow performing ssd...

ill keep you posted after the delete and install

            thanks

just a thought, even though i am set to AHCI,
the gskill firmware update tool does not see my ssd drive.... i wonder if that has something to do with it? i tried it in AHCI and IDE mode....

The other ssd gets 270/260 with Crystalmark on default settings (random 1s and 0s)?

Your original sequential speeds look on par for Crystalmark. Gparted secure erase does work. My phoenix pro 60gb x2 in raid 0 write speed went from 130mb/s to 190mb/s after secure erase with GParted. Make sure you're running Crystalmark using the smallest possible file size and only 1 run. Testing with big files contaminates the SSD really really fast.

Does your speed look right using ATTO?

                Dam it

                man, this is BS!

why does everything have to be soo hard? dam it..
ok so i tried running parted magic, but for some reason linux keeps freezinf on this computer..
so i pulled out drive, and pluged it into my other computer...
now able to run parted magic, BUT, the erase feature gives me an error saying
"this routine can only be run foir disks supporting the security mode feature set"

what the hell? i thought the 60gb pro has that?

man, im so close to smashing this thing...
any idea why the HELL i cant erase the disk when it says the drive doesnt have the security feature?

so now do i try putting it into a THIRD computer to try?

                JESUS!!

I think your problem like this

Step 4-3. Motherboard does not detect any storage device. Please reconnect to the primary SATA port. Do not use the 3rd sata port or E-sata port.

                    ok
Wales, yes you are right, i installed it into a 3rd computer, where i can verify that is was on ahci.
i was able to complete a partmagic erase....
aparently my first computer for somereason wouldnt complete boot the partmagic linux program, my secodn computer didnt have the option for ahci.

NOW, on to my read speeds...

well it turns out that after my secure erase and fresh install of W7,
my read and write speeds were still down at 170/140..

SO, i pluged my ssd into another sata port.
and read speeds went up to 270/260.

so it apears that some sata ports are slower... but here is my thing...

right now im running a gigabyte 890gpa-ud3h

there are 6 sataIII ports ( puting ssd on this port in ahci mode results in 270 read speeds)

then there is 2 sataII ports. ( using these ports i can only get 170 read speeds, even when set to ahci)

                    please advise...
i COULD just use the sata 3 ports, but i have them all filled with raided mirrored drives.

1- now do i really need to use a sata3 6gbs port for the ssd drive? iu thought that a sata 2 port would be clearly fast enough at 3gbs?

2- if i got a pcie card with sata port and ahci option, could i use that for my ssd boot drive and yield the fast read speeds?
