  • phoenix pro and windows shutdown issue

When I have my computer on for several hours and I try to shutdown by windows start menu, windows will shutdown and monitor will enter the off-mode, but my PC won't shutdown. The fans and lights are still running on the pc motherboard. Then I need to manually shutdown the pc power.

It only happens when windows is on for several hours.

Is this happening for someone else too? How to fix it?

I am using firmware 2.1 in my phoenix pro 80gb and win7 64. Will firmware 3.1 fix it?
    Please give a feedback g.skill.

    Hi mauro

Actually I don't think it is SSD issue.

this problem was caused by lots of reasons.

first:BIOS setting, please set it properly especially power control or OS
    second: motherboard hardware problem
    third: overclocking

please let me know your result.

I have been using this system for 3 years now with a standard HDD, and I never had this issue. I just bought the phoenix pro ssd last week, pluged in, and now I have this issue. Looks to me it is related to the SSD, or how can you explain that?

What should I change in the BIOS? All my power management options are DISABLED now. And no hardware problems are detected during POST, and I have nothing overclocked.

Also, I just installed firmware 3.1, and I will let you know if it fixed it.

        Hi mauro

I didn't suspect you or something else.
It is first time I know this issue.
I have tested amount of SSD and never see that.
I am sorry for making you uncomfortable.
how did you install your OS?

I did the standard win 7 clean install.
I plugged the phoenix pro brand new, changed it to ahci in bios, removed other hdd's I had, booted from win 7 dvd and clicked next, next, next till the end.

Now I have updated the firmware to 3.1, and I will do a secure erase with Gparted, and another win 7 clean install.

          Lets see what happens.

          Any other thing you suggest?

                  Hi mauro

could you download Intel SATA driver.
this is only thing I can figure out.

I am already using intel RST 10 final.
I have upgraded from firmware 2.1 to 3.1, and so far the shutdown issue has not happened. I will do more testing and let you know if the firmware upgrade really fix it.
