  • What Size Stripe for Raid 0 SSD?

Title says it all really. Just wondering what the ideal stripe size is for a RAID 0 Phoenix Pro SSD? I keep reading about 4KB alignment. I'm not sure if this is the RAID stripe size or something else. I have read that a normal stripe size is 128KB for RAID 0; not sure if I should use 4KB stripe. Any help here is greatly appreciated!

    Regards,
    David

    Hi

128KB for RAID 0 is the correct size.

128KB stripe size will perform a bit better than 64KB stripe size. HOWEVER, when installing windows make sure you open the command prompt during SETUP (BEFORE installing windows) and using the DISKPART utility to create a 128KB partition for your windows installation to ensure the fastest possible reads/writes with your paired SSDs. Depending on the controller you use, you may (or may not) have faster or even slower speeds than double of each drive (the access times on the drives, however, aren't affected by any RAID configuration.

I understand how to do the strip size, how to install 3rd party drivers. But I don't understand what you mean by creating a 128KB partition for the windows installation.

I know how to make a partition, but how do I make it "for the windows installation"?

Can you be a little more detailed as far as exact steps to do this? I'm confused your instructions ar a little vague.

you go "back" when you select the hard drive (or partition) to cancel the installation. you return to the main page and you redo the process over again. Here's a video to help you with the exact step how to create a partition. It also has to do with RAID configurations. Good luck! This partition creation bit will show you how to do it before you install windows through the command prompt. If you use either 32-bit or 64-bit windows you could use either disc.. you don't have to follow this video's instructions to the T.
