  • [Trident Z Lighting Control] Basic Setup and Troubleshooting Guide

If you are having issues with not being able control the lighting on your Trident Z RGB, Trident Z Royal, or Trident Z Neo memory kits, please go through the checklist below to make sure your system is set up correctly.

    1. Update the motherboard BIOS to the latest version

    2. If your system is an ASUS X99 platform, please make sure to enable "DRAM Timing Control" in the motherboard BIOS. [Guide here: https://www.gskill.us/forum/forum/pr...l-on-asus-x99]

    3. If using a 2-module kit on a 4-module motherboard, please try [CPU][_][X][_][X] or [CPU][X][_][X][_] slot configurations. Working slot configurations may differ from motherboard to motherboard, so check your motherboard manual for the recommended slot configuration. This also applies to using a 4-module kit on an 8-module motherboard.

    4. When extracting the installer, please check the following:
    - Right click on ZIP file, choose Properties
    - Under Generals tab, if there's an "Unblock" option, check it before extracting
    - Make sure you extract to the desktop or a non-system folder, or there may be system permission restrictions

    5. When executing the installer, right click on the installer file and choose "Run as Admin"

    6. After the installation, reboot your system when instructed. It's also good practice to reboot after an uninstall, to make sure Windows is able to remove related program files.

    7. When opening the Trident Z Lighting Control software, the easiest way to check if the software has detected the memory modules is to check the DRAM icon on the left side.
    - If it says "DRAM", then the memory modules are not detected. Try rebooting, reinstalling, and making sure that you don't have multiple lighting control software installed at the same time.
    - If it says "SYNC", then the memory modules are detected. You can click on the DRAM icon and it should show the quantity of DRAM modules that the software is able to control. And if not all modules are detected, then shut down your system and reinsert the memory module into the slot. If the module is still not detected, please switch memory slots with a working/detected module to make sure it's not a faulty memory slot.

    8. If a single LED zone/spot/section is not displaying the correct color, please test using "Static" lighting effect, choose "Sync to LED1", and select RED (HEX FF0000), GREEN (HEX 00FF00), or BLUE (HEX 0000FF) and click on "APPLY". If any of these colors do not display, then it's likely the LED of that color is not working properly. This is typically a hardware issue, not a software issue, so an RMA is recommended in this case.
    - If Red does not work properly, then Magenta/Pink/Purple will look Blue; and Orange/Yellow will look Green; and White will look Cyan/Light Blue.
    - If Green does not work properly, then Cyan/Light Blue will look Blue; and Orange/Yellow will look Red; and White will look Magenta/Pink.
    - If Blue does not work properly, then Magenta/Pink/Purple will look Red; and Cyan/Light Blue will look Green; and White will look Yellow.

    9. To test if all LED on the module is working, please shut down (not restart) the system, turn off the PSU until all the lighting is off on the motherboard, and then turn on the PC. From a cold boot, the Trident Z RGB/Royal/Neo module should display the rainbow lighting effect until the system enters Windows.
    - If the module does NOT display a rainbow lighting effect during boot (and before the system enters Windows), then there may be a hardware issue. RMA is recommended.
    - If the module DOES display a rainbow lighting effect during boot, but turns off after entering Windows, then it's likely a software issue. Try the "Driver Conflict / Clean Uninstall Guide" for the Trident Z Lighting Control software in this post: https://www.gskill.us/forum/forum/pr...t-z-rgb/163741

When all else fails or if there's issues after installing multiple lighting control software, try the "Driver Conflict / Clean Uninstall Guide" for the Trident Z Lighting Control software in this post: https://www.gskill.us/forum/forum/pr...t-z-rgb/163741

IMPORTANT NOTE: The latest lighting control software for G.SKILL Trident Z RGB/Royal/Neo series is named "Trident Z Lighting Control". The previous "Trident Z RGB Control" software for the Trident Z RGB series is no longer available and is no longer supported. To clean uninstall the old "Trident Z RGB Control" software or ASUS Aura software, please see the guide in this post: https://www.gskill.us/forum/forum/pr...e-for-v1-06-68
