  • TridentZ, Ryzen 5 1600, Asrock AB350 Gaming K4

    Dear users,
I want to build a PC based on AsRock fatality AB350 gaming k4 motherboard, with a processor Ryzen 5 1600, so now my problem is to choose RAM properly. On the AsRock website I couldn't find this memory in the QVL list:
    Gskill DDR4 TridentZ RGB PC25600 16GB (2x8GB) Dual Channel F4-3200C16D-16GTZR.
Will it work properly with current configuration or should I change it?

I also have an option of Gskill DDR4 RipjawsV PC21300 16GB (2x8GB) Dual Channel F4-2666C15D-16GVB, but again it is not listed on motherboard's QVL list.
    Thank you

    PS
They have the same price, which fit my budget. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

This is the best way to tell which G.SKill DRAM will work: https://www.gskill.com/en/configurator

Also: Be careful if choosing Trident ZRGB, the software is very buggy in "beta" (alpha) and using any other RGB software can cause SPD corruption or dimming/ loss of control of your lights. EVEN CPU-ID con cause issues unless you have the newest version 1.79.1

    Cheers

      QuantumsEdge,
      Thank you for your reply.
Motherboard ASROCK ab350 gaming k4 supports RAM frequency +3200 for Ryzen processors.
Gskill configurator only giving me suggestions of Ram maximum 2400 MHz for that model of motherboard.
That's why I'm confused, because I was hoping to get frequency at least 2666

Yes I see the same thing you are stating on the website: http://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/Fatal1t...20K4/index.asp

G.Skill configurator factors in motherboard but not CPU and the 3200 seems to correspond to this, as stated on ASrock website.

According to AMDs website the Ryzen 5 1600 supports DDr4 in 2 channel but does not state the maximum capacity or frequency for this processor. https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-5-1600

I'm still trying to find more info.

edit: according to the wikipage for Ryzen 5 1600: https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/ryzen_5/1600 , 2666Mhz is the maximum DRAM frequency that Ryzen 5 1600 can support, if you want faster speeds than that you may need to get a step-up in processor from there, but I don't think it will make too much of a difference.

          QuantumsEdge,

Now My question is, if I'm using
          Gskill DDR4 RipjawsV PC21300 16GB (2x8GB) Dual Channel F4-2666C15D-16GVB
Will my motherboard downgrade it to the 2400 MHz or it will run with native PC21300 type 2666 MHz .
Or should I just choose RAM with 2400 mhz?

Ok, i got it. I will be able to increase frequency by unlocking the RAM, but because of the processor limit it could be 2666 MHz maximum.

            Thank you QuantumsEdge
