  • Upgrading RAM to 32gb on MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC using Ryzen 5 3600

    Hi,

    Here are my PC specs:
    Processor: Ryzen 5 3600
    RAM: F4-3200C16D-16GTZN (8gb x 2)
Motherboard: MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

I want to upgrade my RAM to 32gb but the problem is I'm not sure if I will be getting the 3200mhz on XMP even on the same RAM model, frequency, cas latency.

I currently have F4-3200C16D-16GTZN (8gb x 2). I want to add another with the same model. Is it possible without reducing performance?
Because according to the motherboards QVL on MSI website, it doesn't even support F4-3200C16D-16GTZN but it was 3200mhz on XMP.
But according to QVL on G.Skill website it supports it.

So I do not know what to choose.
    To go to a 16gb x 2(F4-3200C16D-32GTZN) or just add another 8gb x 2(F4-3200C16D-16GTZN)?

According to 16gb x 2(F4-3200C16D-32GTZN) QVL, it does not support my motherboard.

Your comments/suggestions will be very much appreciated and it will help me decide.

It is possible but no guarantee since the modules were not tested together from factory.

32GB kit is best as the memory modules are matched and tested from factory.

The 32GTZN kit is fine, it will run as high as the CPU and motherboard can support. Believe minimum it should be capable of is DDR4-2933, use the latest BIOS for best results. Let us know how it goes.
