  • Memory Compatibility

Before we get started, I am completely new to constructing desktops and all of the know how that goes along with it so please bear with me. I recently purchased the G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL. I read the specs and it says it's compatible with certain lga1556 and 1555 platforms. I was planning on purchasing a lga1366 platform. Are these two compatible (not to sound like a moron but I am) or do I need to stick to 1155 and 1156 platforms? Thanks!

You'll be fine, let us know how you like the sticks, and no, you're not a moron, in fact starting off w/ 8GB rates high on my list, many go 2x2 and then want to expand, starting w/ 8 in two sticks is less stress on the MC (Memory Controller) than somebody expanding to 4x2GB...and you can always expand to 16GB

Thanks for the feedback! I decided to switch to this motherboard for a variety of reasons, the least of which being sure that it is compatible with my ram. Hopefully you guys will see less of me in here as I learn more about this whole computer building process. Once again thank you
