  • Asrock 890FX and 8gb Sniper 1866mhz

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, sorry if this is the wrong one. I'm
building a new mid range gaming system around an Asrock 890FX Deluxe5
Mobo and an AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition CPU for now and
upgrading to bulldozer in the near future. I'm not sure which ram will
work with it; the asrock website doesn't list any 8gb kits on its
approved ram list. I would like it to be 8gb (2x4gb), at least
1600mhz, preferably low voltage and with smaller heat spreaders for
cooler. Will the F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR kit work? I know that my system
wont be able to go up to the 1866mhz yet but its a good price on sale
on newegg today. If not, can you recommend a better kit?

Thanks this is my first build and I'm a little lost, I'm more of a software person

I already answered this somewhere, so I'll let someone else give their thoughts.

    Thank you

That Sniper set has very similar specs to the RipjawsX 1866 set that I'm running.
If you have the C3 955, then you should be fine with that Sniper set.
Keep in mind that you may not be able to achieve 1866 with your 955 because of the IMC limitation.
The Thuban X6 CPU's have no problems running 1866MHz+.
But 1600 should be a piece of cake with the Sniper set that you're interested in.
