  • Best BIOS settings for Gigabyte GA-MA790GPT-UD3H

    My Current Configuration:
    • GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
    • AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX
    • G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

First, I would like to know what the best settings within the BIOS for the memory for this particular setup. I left everything as default, but I feel that I am not getting the best use of the memory especially after reading posts from others. Here are the readings of my CPU, Motherboard, Memory, and slot information.

Second, if I purchase another (2 x 2GB) for a total of 8GB, will I need to change the configuration? If so, what will the settings need to be?

Thank you in advance for your time!

Manually enter your XMP-1600 timings (9-9-9-25-40) in the bios with a command rate of 2T.
Also, I would suggest manually entering the DRAM voltage (1.50v) as well.
If you go with another 2x2GB, you will probably have to tweak the NB, CPU/NB, and HT Link voltages.

One last question, when I buy additional memory, should I stick with the same model of g.skill or would it be okay to purchase the F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ 2 x 2 GB kit?

Best bet is to get a matching set, but even w/ that there's no guarantee they will play together. Generally they will...but not always. As far as timings, they should stay the same except for a couple of the timings, which will update them selves automatically like tRFC will go higher

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:
