  • Asus P5Q3 + F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

    Hello,

I have an Asus P5Q3 Motherboard and a Q8300 Processor. I am running Windows Vista x64 Operating System.

I had some OCZ Ram but only 4gb and it was discontinued. I was shopping around on newegg the other day and found your ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL at a nice price, so I bought 8gb of it.

I have my bios settings to auto instead of adjusting the voltages and timings on them.

Every now and then, maybe once a day, I am getting a blue screen. It will usually say IRQL not equal to value blah blah.

Do I need to adjust it down to 1333mhz or will it run at 1600mhz? Or do I need to change the voltage settings up some more?

I havent experimented any yet because I didn't wanna mess anything up!

    Thank you!

Off hand first make sure CR (Command Rate at 2), then possible add .05 to the NB and/or .05 to the DRAM voltage. If that doesn't stabilize things, pls post your BIOS timing and voltage settings.....also might raise your tRFC about 6 points, if I remember right your mobo tends to set that a hair low w/ 8GB

Right now, you can use DDR3-1333 8-8-8-24 1.50V.

The problem with DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24 1.50V is you need to raise CPU FSB to 400 (1600MHz). The CPU FSB must be the same or higher than memory, otherwise it will not work.

          Thank you

            Gskill tech,

I tried the settings you recommended...

The 1333mhz fsb with 8-8-8-24 timings. I also tried what tradesman recommended... I still get irql not equal blah blah bluescreen.

Operating system has changed. Using windows 7 64bit.

The ram is the same. The mobo is the same. etc.

I also tried the auto settings.

It seems to bluescreen when the computer wakes up from 'sleep' mode or when I am trying to play a game (black ops) it freezes in game, then bluescreens shortly after.

            Thanks.

Do you have the latest BIOS? Test each module with memtest to see if one has errors.

                Thank you

Still having issues. Tested memory and they passed. Have the updated bios. I will post pictures later when I get home.

The board only has 4 slots for RAM. I have 2gb in each slot.

Try each kit in the black slots, use these settings:

                        DDR3-1333 8-8-8-24 1.50V.

Let me know the results of each kit.

                        Thank you
