  • F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM on GA-P55A-UD4P

I have a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P rev 2.0 w/BIOS F11 and G.SKILL F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM using an i7 875K. My problem is that I can never run memtest86 with more then one DIMM installed or the machine reboots at 2% completed. I have tried setting XMP on and off with same results. If I use some old Kingston ValueRAM (DDR3 1333) they run fine with two DIMM's installed. What's up?

Do you have them installed in the 2nd and 4th slots (away from the CPU)?

    Thank you

Yes, they are in the second and fourth rows. I should have also mentioned that the old Kingston RAM was 1GB modules and my G.SKILL modules are 2GB each. Could that be the cause?

No, that is not the problem. Send the memory in for new replacements and the new set should be better.

Problem solved... I didn't know there were other versions of memtest available. I was using memtest86 3.5 from www.memtest86.com. I have since downloaded Memtest86+ V4.10 from www.memtest.org. Since booting with that new ISO all 8GB has test ok. Thanks for the help.
