    Sam3,

Yep, keep looking at the BIOS updates. ASUS is working hard to iron out some things to make it more automatic to support high frequencies.

Make sure to manually set all voltages, in case the motherboard is over volting too much.

    Thank you

A bit of a late reply but I Just Recently updated my bios so I thought I would give overclocking this ram another try:

I got the ram up to 1846 mhz (7-8-7-24-1T) (from 1600mhz) and it is stable (ran prime95 for 9+ hours )
    230fsb
    x17 multiplier
    cpu 1.4v

I have ran into another snag though,
My CPU and northbridge temps seem very high:
CPU Idles at around 46 C and northbridge idles at around 56 C
At full load my cpu temp reaches 73 C and northbridge reaches 70 C

Even at stock speeds temps were very similar
My case has pretty bad air flow (So does my bedroom )

Do you think these temps could be preventing me from overclocking the northbridge successfully to get the ram up to 2000mhz

    Thanks again for any help

True it does seem more difficult - that person seems to be one few who has achieved 2000mhz. And its not just g-skill sticks - theres a lot of support threads for other brands (including corsair dominator GT's).
Being the first amd board to support 2000mhz ram, im hoping that its some minor stability glitches that can be ironed out in a future bios update (fingers crossed).

As for overclocking - ive reached the limit of my current cooling system (corsair hydro h50) and can only ever achieve a maximum of 4.1ghz due to cpu temperatures going too high ,

I will have to invest in a proper liquid cooling solution and a new case to carry on this overclock - but first come, first i need a new graphics card (currently running a gtx260 )

I will try to see if I can get the ram running at tighter timings by lowering their speed a bit tommorow - will post back results (if successful)

    Thanks for the reply

Edit: just tried it in ganged mode (the docp timings for me were (9-10-9-27-2T)) with everything else on auto and it was unstable

    Thanks

And - as for sending the sticks back and getting a replacement, looking through the g-skill forums and the asus forums it seems lots of people are having problems with these sticks and im thinking the problem may be caused by something else (and not that everyone has faulty sticks) - I dont want to give up on these sticks just yet

    how did you do it

I was just wondering what your settings are..that made you able to get your memory upto 2000mhz..I have an Nf980-65 motherboard that is suppose to be able to do 2133..but I can't even get my memory above 1600..when its Gskill 2300...i have tried everything..changing voltge, mem timings, FSB, CPU NB voltge..won't go over 1600..doesn't boot anytime I do..my settings as of right now

    CPU 4100Ghz 20.5 ratio with 1.45v
    FSB 200
HT and CPU NB 2600 with 1.50v
Memory 1600mhz all auto with ratio 1:4

    ps cpu multiplier at x16
I would attach prime 95 results but i guess i don't have enough privileges

    Thanks - it worked

Upping the dram voltage to 1.70v made it stable at 1864MHz (8-8-8-24-1T),

Now to test 2000mhz - will post back results later

Edit: 2000mhz was not stable - tried upping dram voltage to 1.9v with no luck (9-9-9-27-2T),
Tried upping the cpu/nb voltage to 1.30v and it was still unstable
Tried upping the cpu/nb frequenccy all the way up to 2500mhz with no luck

    Thanks for the reply,

just tried using manual settings with cpu voltage on auto - increased fsb to 233mhz to bring ram up to 1864mhz and it was unstable.

I then tried upping the cpu-nb voltage to 1.3 and it is still unstable

    Any other ideas?

Thanks again for all your suggestions so far - I really appreciate the help
