  • Problem to use G.Skill RipJaws RAM with ASROCK P67 EXtreme6 and Core I7 2600K

On desktop fitted like that :
Motherboard AS Rock P67 Extreme6 (BIOS 2.10) with
    - CPU Intel Core i3-2100 @ 3.10GHz
    - RAM_DDR3_Hynix HTM351U6FR8C-PB 1600 Mhz 4Go
    .. and is operating

In view to gain speed I bought and install :

    CPU Intel Core i7 2600K - 3.4 GHz - 4 cores - LGA1155 Socket
RAM DDR3 G.Skill Ripjaws 4x4Go 2133 MHz CAS 9 F3-2133C9D-8GXL (This RAM needs CPU series-K according to ASROCK documentation)
Boot starts but breaks on Error Code 0x09 or 0x55 depending of location/number of RAM card putted

Tests have been done all others cards dismount from motherboard.

Is These RAM needs advanced Bios Setup setting ?

    Thanks for advance

Do you have the latest BIOS? If it is a newer DDR3 model it may not work well for the P67 chipset as it may not have the proper updates for the newer DDR3 chips.

Unfortunately DDR3 is no longer in production so it may be difficult to find the proper models in brand new condition.

    F4-1600C11D-8GNT

These are some models that should work with the older platform if you can find them.

I install latest Bios this evening by advice of Asrock support.
But if F3-2133C9D-8GXoperates with CPU core I3 they did not with CPU Core I7because boot stops
Boot stops with 0x09 code (south bridge initialization after microcode loading) and if i reboot code 0x4F (DXE IPL is started)
May I considere that CPU I7 is defective ?

That is possible if the i3 CPU can work properly.
