May have two sets that just don't want to play together...I'll reread your posts and take another look at everything in about an hour and a half (around 9 PM),.....haven't forgotten you, just tied up at the moment here

Don't really see anything in particular, could try the CPU/NB up a bit more maybe 1.27 and possibly raise the DRAM + 0.05........if no joy, am thinking maybe the sticks just don't want to play ... might want to see about return/exhange for a single four stick set

I think I might return one set and keep the other. I still have the packaging for one and maybe I can get it to run at 1866 in 2 slots. Honestly I don't think i'd notice the difference between 8Gb ram and 16GB but at least this way it'll be a higher speed and better timings.

The computer is definitely working fine this way and in setting it up I unintentionally started overclocked the CPU but I decided to keep it and test it and now it's running fine at 4.2Ghz. The only thing I am confused anout is that AMD overdrive says its in the 30 degree celcius range then it quickly rises into the 50s but according to the ASUS Fan manager the CPU is only about 32 degrees. Do you know why I would be getting such different numbers? I'd like to think the 32C is correct especially since I have it in an Atnec 900v2 case with a hyper212 cpu fan. What do you think?

IS that showing possibly the max it's reached? May want to download and may run a utility program like CORE TEMP, it will monitor the CPU temps and provide what the current temp is, along with what the low and high temps have been since the program was started. Can find it here:

It keeps changing so it gives the current temp, but I think it was just buggy yesterday, because it was also saying that the motherboard didn't have a temperature, but today it's reading in the low 30s again and it has a temperature for the motherboard (that temp is definitely correct because my fan controller says the same thing for the motherboard). I'll check out that program anyway, thanks for the help!

Wish we could have done more...keep an eye out for BIOS upgates, they may come out with something that might help, wouldn't hold my breath but have seen some interesting upgrades that have popped up elsewhere

Okay, I may just hold onto it until I eventually upgrade my processor but i'm not sure. Also, i'm running core temp and it just seems to be giving me the temperature of the first core, but were all those sites that said the 60s were the highest the cpu temp should get for an fx-4100 talking about the temperature of the individual cores? If so I have nothing to worry about because the highest it's hit so far is 22C xD

Sounds good, temps seem in order, on the Core Temp screen, above the current Core Temps will/should be a Tj Max setting - that should be the Max Temp that the CPU should hit for any length of time - not sure what the FX's temps are
