  • Picking RAM for Premiere Pro build

I am building a PC to run adobe Premiere Pro CS6. My mobo is an ASUS P8Z77-V Le , CPU i7-3770k.

Mainly because of price I am stuck between G.Skill Ripjaws X 16GB (2x8) CL 10 on sale for $49.99 and Sniper Gaming Series 16GB (2x8) CL9 or Ares CL 9 both for $79.99. Is CL9 over CL10 worth the price difference? I am not a gamer.

16GB at what freq? (guessing 1600 by price) they have the Ripjaws X (designed towards socket 1155) F3-1866C9D-16GXM a CL9 set at the Egg on sale today for $60 (29% off), which is a BEST BUY! If you want to run 1600 with this set it should run 1600 at CL8 (even better than the $80 CL9/1600 set)

yes I was looking at DDR3 1600 PC3 12800...however I have no idea what that means. The link you gave me is DDR3 1866 PC3 14900 . Is that better? is it compatible with my mobo?

As I said in my post - if you want a 1600 set (which is what you were looking at. This 1866 set is faster (1866 vs 1600) and comes at a CL or 9 (lower the CL the better = higher performance) so 1866/CL9 is better than 1600/CL9 ...... additionally you could run these 1866 sticks at 1600 using CL8....so yes the 1866 set is a much better deal all the way around. and with your combo - you could prob OC the 1866 sticks to an even higher freq of 2133 for even more performance gains
