  • Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P & F2-8500CL5D-4GBPI-B

I just purchased this memory to replace some older memory.

This is the rev 1.6 board

I upgraded the bios to the latest (listed as beta on their site).

The memory is installed in slots 1 & 3

The problem I'm having is that it only recognizes 4 gig of memory.

I set the bios values to the values listed in the following thread: http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=1169
CPU Host Clock Control - Enabled
    CPU Host Frequency - 333
    Performance Enhance - Standard
    Extreme Memory Profile - Disabled
    System Memory Mulitplier - 3.20B
    DRAM Timing Selectable - Manual
    CAS Latency - 5
    tRCD - 5
    tRP - 5
    tRAS - 15

    Advanced Timing Control (submenu)
    tRRD - 4
    tWTR - 4
    tWR - 8
    tRFC - 68 (80 for 8GB or 4 sticks) - set to 80 since I have 2 4 gig sticks
    tRTP - 4
    Command Rate - 2

    Load Line Calibration - Disabled
    MCH Core - 1.20V (1.40V for 8GB or 4 sticks) - I used 1.4 since I have 2 4 gig sticks
    DRAM Voltage - 2.10V

The manual says it should recognize this memory. So what do I need to do to get it to be fully recognized?

    Thanks in advance.

First thought would be do you have a 32 or 64 bit version of Win - 32 will only support up to 4GB ( actually just short of 4GB) another might be Win is limiting the amount of DRAM - can check by going to Start - type in MSCONFIG (enter) then select Boot, then Advanced, then check to make sure MAX MEM is unchecked.....let me know if either does the trick

      I guess I wasn't clear.

First off, to answer your question, I run a 64 bit version of Windows.

But the BIOS doesn't see anything more than 4 gig. So it doesn't even get to Windows.

When I turn on the machine, it displays the amount of memory it sees. Which is only 4 gig.

      Thanks

        You have 2 x 2GB, not 2 x 4GB.

MCH Core Voltage is fine with 1.20V.

Also, did you try the other two slots?

        Thank you

          OH! Nuts!

It was supposed to be 2 4 gig sticks. Now it makes sense, and it is working properly.

          Thank you for your help

Glad it wasn't something more serious
