  • MSI P45 Platinum & F2-8500CL5D-4GBPI Problems

Model of the motherboard: MSI MS7512 (P45 Platinum) W/ BIOS V1.6
    Model of the memory: F2-8500CL5D-4GBPI-B
Model of the CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16GHZ)

    The Problem/s:

    Intermittent lockup during POST
Intermittent Lockup during boot (in between the Windows Startup screen, and the login screen)
CPU-Z Reports Dual Channel Mode as Asymmetric
    Intermittent Failure during memtest 86

I've tried some of the tips I've found here on the Forums and over on MSI's Forums but, the occasional lockup during boot persists.

Screenshots of Mobo Cell Menu and, CPU-Z:

Do you have the latest BIOS (not sure off hand what it is), then may want to raise the NB voltage, maybe + .05

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

Yes, the latest version is 1.6

I adjusted the MCH Voltage (that's what you meant by NB, right?), and memory still showing as Asymmetric.

        Also, I've tried running PCMark05 and it's failing during Test 10 (of 11, a multi-threading test)

          vREF should be 1.05V.

          Thank you

With all of my settings, matching the screenshots above, and setting my DDR VREF A/B to 1.05, my memory is still showing as Asymetric in CPU-Z. I'm also still failing PCMark 05 at Test 10, and I'm getting random reboots.

Make sure to manually input memory timings, in some of those pictures, I see some weird timings.

Here are the key timings to check:

              tCL - 5
              tRCD - 5
              tRP - 5
              tRAS - 15
              tWR - 8
              tRC - 24
              tRFC - 74
              tWTR - 13
              tRRD - 5
              tRTP - 7

              Thank you

I can't seem to find the TRC setting. I set everything else but that and, my memory still shows as Asymetric. and I'm still failing the PCMark05.

If you're trying to change asymmetric mode, what slots do you have them installed in? Same color?

                    Thank you

Any other memory you can try? Maybe the motherboard is bad. Contact MSI, they should know better.

                        Thank you
