  • GA-MA790GP-UD4H and F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK

I'm trying to install F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK in a Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H. I can get 1 stick to run ok, using both just causes a stream of post beeps. I set the Memory Clock to x5.33 which gives me 1066. I know the voltage should be 2.1, but the DDR2 Voltage Control goes from 0.05 to 0.55 in 0.05 increments, right now it's set to Normal. On the DDR2 Configuration screen, I'm not sure what these settings should be either besides the 5-5-5-15:

DDRII Timing Items: Manual SPD Auto
    CAS# Latency: 5T 5T 5T
    RAS to CAS R/W Delay: 5T 5T 7T
    Row Precharge Time: 5T 5T 7T
    Min RAS Active Time: 15T 15T 17T
    1T/2T Command Timings: 2T -- --
    Twtr Command Delay: 4T 3T 4T
    Trfc0 for DIMM1: 127.5ns 127ns 127ns
    Trfc2 for DIMM2: 127.5ns -- --
    Trfc1 for DIMM3: 75ns -- --
    Trfc3 for DIMM4: 75ns -- --
    Write Recovery Time: 8T 6T 8T
    Precharge Time: 3T 3T 3T
    Row Cycle Time: 33T 25T 33T
    RAS to RAS Delay: 4T 3T 4T

    Thanks a lot,
    Brian W.

A couple ideas, first always unplug system before making changes, then try installing sticks in slot 1 and 2 (the yellow ones, this board is not like most that go 1-3 or 2-4 for dual channel, it takes after the MSI designs)), make sure they are firmly seated and the clips in tight. If you get the POST beeps, then unplug and try in slots 3-4 (Red ones). If you still get post beeps with the two then you may have either a bad stick or possibly a bad mobo.

You can also try a different pair of sticks, if you have them or can borrow a pair, to see if it's the mobo.

Probably of no help, but possible, they released a BIOS update on your board on 3/17, the primary feature of the update is audio, but there may be some changes for RAM support also, the new BIOS is F2D, the original was F1.

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:
