  • Need help getting F2-8500CL5D-2GBPK to 1066 in Asus M4A78-E

Build a new system and need help with what to set in the BIOS to get my memory at 1066. It shows as 400mhz in cpu-z under memory frequency. I horribly when it comes to anything in the BIOS.

    Asus M4A78-E
AMD Phenom 9600 Agena Quad Core
    1 pack G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-2GBPK

You'll want to go into the BIOS and set the memory timings to 5-5-5-15, the voltage to 2.0 (maybe 2.05 or even up to 2.1, but I doubt it), and the RAM speed to 1066 (might show as 533), not familiar with the particular BIOS setup for this mobo.

Also, check your version of CPU-Z, a couple of the latest versions have had bugs.

      Thank you for the reply.

I'm not in front of the computer right now. But thought it had the those timings. Does the voltage effect speed? Or how does it?

      I was using cpu-z 1.50.

w/ 2.0 you should be able to run the RAM at stock settings, but that can vary from mobo to mobo (in part how they adapt the chipset to the board). Voltage can be used to stabilize the system and is used most often in OCing.

        Might also try CPU-Z 1.48.
For your motherboard, you'll want the sticks in slots 1-2, the yellow ones (particularly if you plan to OC.

Hope this helps, will be in and out of the forums this evening for awhile.

you'll need to set it at DDR2 1066 5-5-5-15 2T@2.0-2.1v manually in BIOS
if you set it with auto setting, it's normal to run only DDR2 800
and you may also need to increase northbridge voltage to run at DDR2 1066

voltage would not improve performance but stability while overclocking
          thanks

            Thank you for your answers.

Went to try and small glitch. Got 4 numbers to change but 10 spots under DRAM timing.

              tCL - 5
              tRCD - 5
              tRP - 5
              tRAS - 15

              These are your primary timings.

Thank you everyone for your help. Got everything set and is running at 535 (1070) so actually running a little fast.
