  • F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK w/Asus P5N32E-SLI

    I have the following:

    F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK
    Asus P5N32E-SLI w/1701 BIOS (latest)

I had 2 gigs of memory before, system was rock stable, running memory at 970.

I bought the new memory, 4GB, but it would not run at 1066 w/5-5-5-15 timings.

I tried 2.1 volts, no post. 2.2 volts, no post. 2.50, post but Windows would not boot.

Memory runs fine at 800MHz at 2.1V. Max I could get my memory to run is at 950 at 2.2V.

My system had been stable without this memory, it just seems that this memory cannot run at specified timings of 1066 at 2.1v 5-5-5-15. I tried many things, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated, if necessary RMA as well.

edit:I have specified all memory timings, nothing is set to AUTO. Settings with voltage - 2.1 - 2.2, 5-5-5-15-2T

did you run with 4 sticks installed?
on this chipset, we don't recommend you to install 4 sticks of memory
there is always problem with 4 sticks on this chipset
    thanks

Negative, the only memory installed is the g.skill 2x2GB, thats it. Does this sound like an RMA?

if it need to run DDR2 800 with 2.1v is not right. please try one module at a time and let us know your result asap

I am not sure what this has to do with the memory running at 1066....

The memory runs fine at 2.0/2.1 per the sticker on the box at 800. When I try to run it 1066, it will not post. I bump the voltage, and its able to post but not boot up into windows. This is tested each stick individually.

I would really like a solution to this, it sounds like an RMA to me...

make sure your northbridge doesn't over heat. i know 680/650 chipset is a heater
rma the memory i think that is best way to see its memory or mobo issue

              Thanks

I have never had issues with my northbridge, i make sure that the case is well-ventilated and airflow is excellent. Ive never had issues with this motherboard, have had it for 2 years, no prob.

How do I get my RMA??

I just got my replacement memory.....

                  It STILL DOES NOT WORK!!

This memory will not even post with the following settings:

                  DDR2-900 5-5-5-15 2.1 & 2.2V!

I can get this memory to boot and it will work at FSB800 with 5-5-5-15 at 2.1V.

I have tried numerous settings, and it even seems that I got farther along with the original memory that I returned...

I really do not know where to go from here, it looks like this memory will not work for me. What are my options?? I have tried a few settings but it will not boot, even with a bump of voltage. Can you please tell me what my options are??

edit - can i send this memory back in for this memory? F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI-B. I would like something that can run on my system, and this memory is the same price as the memory that i purchased. maybe this can get my system to run stable. I would also like to be reimbursed for sending this memory as it will not run at the stated specs. Please let me know if this is satisfactory, and thank you for your time.

did you increase the Northbridge voltage to 1.4-1.5v?
it's necessary to increase Northbridge voltage to run at DDR2 1066
                    thanks
