  • Memory Error ??

I have been getting random blues creen crashes since i built my machine in november.
I'm using a m4a785m and f2-9600lcd-4gbrh memory from g.skill. I did a memory test last night and found the following:

tst pass failing address good bad err-bits count chan

Could this be my problem or should i look further?

Prob is, quite possible a timing is slightly off. Might want to run memtest on 1 stick at a time to see if one is bad. Also, if you could post your BIOS settings we could see if something is slightly off, might well be a single setting, timing/voltage/etc

      bios settings

well the I have been trying to get this memory to run at advertised 1200mhz but I have had no luck doing this.

bios settings are a little different but I had crashes before in the same manner with everything set to auto?

still like to see bios settings?

        bios settings

Overclock profile set to 5% over
        Gpu set to 725mhz
        Everything else set to auto

in cpuz it says this is

        under SPD:

        g.skill
        F2-9600cl6-2gbrg

        ras to cas 6
        tRAS 18
        tRC 60
        Command rate 2t
        voltage 1.9v

        then under memory :

        fsb:dram 3:8
        cas 5
        tRCD 7
        tRP 7

he meant the BIOS settings in CMOS.....when the machine starts go into setup.....those are the settings he was referring to

            thanks for the clarification....
Everything in bios is set to auto except for what i mentioned.....
he also made mention that my timing may be off ... did he not?
As i did not set my mem timing is read to him what the machine was setting it at via cpuz.

if one stick or both sticks are bad whats the difference ? i have to rma as a pair.

If you have them at AUTO, you'll want to set them manually (AUTO can fluctuate and doesn't always set the sticks to the true optimal settings). Set your base timings to 6-6-6-18, Freq or speed to either 600 or 1200 depending on how it has it available, DRAM Voltage to 2.0, Command rate/timing to 2N or 2T (again based on availability in options). If problems persist find out what the tRFC is, the NB voltage.

With your CPU, you may be limited to running at 1066, unless you give it a rather healthy OC, and if so let us know if you are running on three cores or have unlocked the fourth.

                knocked it back

i was running 4 cores now I'm running 0,1,2 and the timing setting you suggested.
                Lets see if it crashes.

fplay a game for an hour, and
                Yes it still does.....

i personally dont think the RMA is gonna help with your issues, like Tman mentioned you might have to get a higher clock on the processor in order to run at 1200. 6-6-6-18 2T is the proper timings for that kit

I'm not trying for 1200mhz any more.... I'm trying to get it to stop crashing to blue screen randomly. An i have ruled out the processors 4th core and the setting are all now what he said they should be. but it still crashes.

can you post your BIOS settings? It can be done a couple of ways....take a picture with camera and post it or copy someones template (if you can find a post in here with it ) then just fill in your settings....and just a thought here....you do have them installed in both blue slots (A1_B1) correct?
