    Intel Core2 Quad Q84400 @ 2.66 GHZ
    GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P VERSION 1.6
    F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK

Thanks to Gskill for trying to resolve the issues with this motherboard. Judging from the threads and the views I'm not alone when I say this build has been a PITA. I gleaned more information in 10 minutes reading this forum then an hour with Gigabyte's department of customer no-service. That said here's my problem.

System will run reliable w/ 4gig memory in either 1-3 or 2-4. The hair pulling begins when I try to insert 8 gigs (4-2gigs). And yes I did increase the MCH Core to 1.4V and the trFC to 80. I also flashed the Bios with the new version and updated the chipset driver. I also set the timing ahead to 6-6-18. Nonetheless, the blue screen of death awaits me each time the system enters the initial boot stage of windows 7 pro 64bit.

Any new tweeks that aren't contained in the posts of the newly bald owners of this motherboard or should I just concede that 4 gigs of memory is plenty for this middle aged (if I live to 108 yrs.) gnome.

I am no expert with this so I wont comment on the memory timings just yet....yet if you just got the board recently and updated to BIOS FD you might wanna switch back to FB.

I updated to FD and my problems started......I downgraded back to BIOS FB and everything started running alot smoother....now keep in mind I only run F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ x2, yet I got them running @1000Mhz. (maybe I got some downgraded 1066 sticks, i dunno)

Gigabyte is supposedly taking a deeper look into BIOS FD so only time will tell.

Good call Dumaine thought everything was stable when I shut down last night but when I restarted today I couldn't post. Flashed the bios w/ FB and it appears to be good. I finally have all 8 GB up and running but there was no way this motherboard could handle the load at 1066. Reset to 800Mhz and shazam it fired right up. I'll keep creeping the speed upward until it crashes. Thanks

glad I could help on the BIOS part, now its time for the Techs to take over for the timings for that Memory.....lol

Your optimum setting would probably be DDR2-900 with 4-4-4-12 timings. On almost every EP45-UD3P/R motherboard I have tested it proves to be faster than DDR2-1066 CL5.

          Thank you

Overclocked to 3.2G and set memory to 800 and everything has been stable for 2 months. This memory will not operate at 1066 on this motherboard with all 8G of memory. The Q9400 processor is very robust and I have read reviews of it being overclocked to 3.9G with no problems. Good luck, your journey is nearly over.

I have EP45-UD3P / E8600. All 8gigs of memory was plug and play. FB/FD/FE BIOS had same results. The BIOS is a little hard to get set right - but when you do you'll have no problems. Mine booted first time and showed all 8 gigs running 1066. The FE BIOS is out but I don't think Gigabyte has listed on their web sight yet.

8GB should have no problems on this motherboard. We have even overclocked without any issues. It will simply require BIOS tuning.
