  • F2-PC8500 & Asus M4A785G

    hello

    1st, sorry for my poor english ... I'm a french guy !
2nd, thanks to the Gskill team, for great job on this forum

    so, my problem ...

    MB : Asus M4A785G HTPC, AMD 785G, SB710, latest BIOS (0604)
Proc : Opteron 1352, (equal phenom 9450e), AMD site
    RAM : F2-8500CL5-2GBPK, 2x2GB
    OS : Win2k3

The RAM works fine on my other system (MSI 785GMT-E45, Athlon II 240) at 1066MHz with EPP profile (5,5,5,15)

but can't work at 1066 with my opteron ...
I try tweaks as shown in this forum, NB at 1,4V, RAM at 2,1V, SB 1,3V, timings 5,7,7,15 ... and other timings ...
no way, it fails with OCCT

At this time, I run a test at 900MHz with timings 5,5,5,15, and seem stable ...

Can I have tips to run at 1066 ?
The BIOS have some unknow settings :
    DCT0 1st info (looks familiar)
    TCL
    TRCD
    TRP
    TRTP
    TRAS
    TRC
    TWR
    TRRD

    DCT0 2nd info (nothing know here !)
    TRWTTO
    TWRRD
    TWTR
    TWRWR
    TRFRF
    TRFC0
    TRFC1

I'll post some settings with results this night, after new tests.

    Thx for help !!

    Ti nicO

Believe you may have to drop the DRAM speed, don't think your Opteron will run 1066, might try 966 or 1000

      Damn, I'm disappointed!
I had forgotten, but the memory controller is integrated in the proc ...
the mobo is out of question, and it explains why it works on my Athlon II
it seems to work at 1000MHz with a 250MHz FSB.
I will try to find agressive timings to optimize all this

      what is the most efficient ? 900MHz with 4-4-4-12, or 1000 with 5-5-5-15 ?
and there are other timings to adjust ? and especially not to touch?

      thanks for help

DDR2-900 with 4-4-4-12 timings would probably be the most stable. You can also lower voltage to 2.0V.

900 at CL4 would prob out perform the 1000 at CL5.....if you keep voltage at 2.1 you might even be able to run 3-4-4-12 at 800, could always run benchmarks to check performance.
