  • computer wont boot with both sticks of ram

Model of the motherboard: ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe
Model of the memory: GSKILL DDR400 PC3200 1GBx2
Model of the CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800

i am upgrading from 2 sticks of 256k Kingston pc2100 ram
when i put the 2 sticks of GSKILL ram in the computer wont boot, no startup screen..just a black screen.1 Stick alone will work, but both will not. I tried changing the RAM Volts in the BIOS, i tried 2.6v 2.7v and 2.8v
Should i be changing the Memory Timing or the Memory Frequency? There are a lot of options that can be changed in the BIOS but im not sure which are compatible.

What model is your memory? The "NS" model requires 2.75V, but you tried that and had the same problem it seems..

Do you have the latest BIOS?

    Thank you
