1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) does not work in Dell Dimension 2400

I ordered one today and installed it in my Dell Dimension 2400 with Intel Pentium 4 2.66GHz. When I booted it up, it beeped about 5 times and did nothing else. The screen was blank. It acted as if there was no RAM at all in the computer. Should I just trade it in for something else or is there a fix?

we checked it and found the chipset of your machine only support up to 512MB per stick and only to DDR 266
please change to install 512MB memory
