  • B-Die binning question

    Hi

    I have:
    G.Skill Ripjaws V F4-3200C14D-16GVR 3200 14-14-14-34 1.35V
    G.Skill Ripjaws V F4-3600C16D-16GVK 3600 16-16-16-36 1.35V

And both seem to be quite similar, but at some settings there is up to 0.06V difference, also between both sticks from the same kit. But in average sticks from the same kit are only 0.01V apart.
Anyway, I would be sure to say that 3200 CL14 and 3600 CL16 are the same bin. Both do (100% stable, Prime95 Large 40min + additional 0.01V just to be sure):
    3600 C14 ~1.35V
    3600 C13 ~1.48V
    3900 C14 ~1.50V
    4000 C16 ~1.40V
    4000 C15 ~1.50V
    4100 C15 ~1.52V
    4133 C15 ~1.55V
    4200 C16 ~1.45V
    4266 C16 ~1.50V

4000 C14 - needs more than 1.55V, won't try that for now. But it seems this is the best B-Die setting if you don't go to extreme frequencies of 4400-4800. But 3900 C14 is second best option and doesn't require that much voltage, at least 0.1V less.

From my 2 kits it also doesn't seem you need much luck, both perform so similar you could run one stick from one kit and one stick from the other and it could be even better at some settings than running the same kit.

    But what about F4-3600C15D-16GTZ, which is 3600 15-15-15-35 1.35V.
What gains can be had with this one? Does it need less voltage in average compared to 3200 C14 and 3600 C16? If so, how much is that, -0.02V or -0.05V? I doubt it overclocks any higher, but I'm CPU limited with my 10600K to 4266 anyway, unless I go with VCCSA more than 1.30V.
Mine don't do well on 3600 C15 1.35V, they need 1.32-1.36V. This kit should do it on max 1.30V, so if this gain is across the frequency and CL range, I would say it's around -0.05V better bin.
If anyone can confirm this, I will go hunting for it, it's harder and harder to find, too bad I didn't pick this one in October 2020.

Are there any other particular bins that should overclock very well, perhaps 4000 17-17-17-37 1.35V?
I got mixed results on the internet, from 4000 C15 1.40V to no overclock at all, only 4000 C17:
    https://www.overclockers.com/g-skill...-memory-review
    https://www.techpowerup.com/review/g...-16gtrs/8.html

Then I'm also interested how you bin 2x16 GB kits. Which should be best among these 3 and if you have any examples?
    4000 16-19-19-39 1.40V (F4-4000C16D-32GVK)
    4000 17-18-18-38 1.40V (F4-4000C17D-32GVKB)
    3600 14-15-15-35 1.45V (F4-3600C14D-32GVK)

    DDR4-4000 CL15, 17, CL19, DDR4-3600 CL14, DDR4-3800 CL14, these will be the top bins for OC.

That makes sense as all are 200-300€ for 2x8 GB. 4000 16-19-19 and 4133 17-17-17 are probably also good.

And I found a guy that has F4-3600C15D-16GTZ here:
      https://extreme.pcgameshardware.de/t...-14-28.542248/
I hope he can answer me so I don't have to buy this kit myself. Other kits are too expensive anyway just for playing with them.

I also found this thread some time ago, but there's not much except 4000 CL16 1.40V, that's nothing out of the ordinary:
      https://www.overclock.net/threads/gs...aking.1723354/
That last post though, that is something special, 4000 CL15 1.40V. But I guess not worth spending double or triple the price for -0.1V, DDR5 will be here in 2 years anyway and 1.50V, even 1.55V shouldn't be a problem for 2 years.

I'm actually quite happy with my 2 kits. Only drawback for now is 3600 on all timings, it's hardest to find stable voltage. I guess B-Die is just not happy with only 1.25-1.30V, although they start to show some stability. But give them 1.30-1.35V and all is fine. Higher frequencies need more voltage anyway, so this problem is not apparent.

After buying 4000 15-16-16 I see that was meant only for highest frequency OC.
But what about highest CL14? As that it only does 3733 CL14.
I would say good are 3200 CL14, slightly behind 3600 CL16, both mine do 3800 CL14 1.50V. And best should be 3600 14-15-15 and 3800 14-16-16, my 3600 does 3900 CL14 1.50V. Hard to say for all the rest, especially 16-19-19 kits are the biggest mystery for me. But any CL19 kits, maybe also CL17 kits, are for sure not a good choice for AMD.
