  • PC crashes when RAM is set at adcertised speed

    My specs are as follows.

MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge Wifi Motherboard
    AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU
EVGA Geforce RTX 2060 Super SC ULTRA GPU
    GSKILL Trident Z RGB F4-3600C18D-16GTZR 8x2 RAM

When I enable XMP in BIOS and set the DRAM speed to AUTO or manually at 3600, my PC has issues like games crashing to desktop and random black screens for a few seconds while using memory intensive apps. However, these problems disappear if I manually set DRAM speed to the next lower setting at 3533 MHz or lower. I have purchased this RAM recently and am now mulling between returning it or eventually being able to find a workaround to have the RAM run at the full advertised clock speed. Please inform/advise if there are any possible fixes to this issue.

Check CPU SoC Voltage at DDR4-3533, you may need to manually set it slightly higher or boost DRAM Voltage to see if that can improve stability at DDR4-3600.

Are you using the latest BIOS? Are modules in slots two and four away from the CPU?
