Any 64GB (2x32GB) DDR4-3600 Cas 16 kits that are dual rank?

  • Any 64GB (2x32GB) DDR4-3600 Cas 16 kits that are dual rank?

    I have a Ryzen 9 5900X on a Asus Rog Strix B550-F motherboard. Looking for DDR4-3600 C16 2x32GB using dual rank sticks. Do they exist? Does G.Skill sell them? Which ones? Any of these?

    F4-3600C16D-64GTZR
    F4-3600C16D-64GVK
    or the others?

    I don't want to do 4x16GB.

    Pretty sure both kits are built with dual rank modules like all of the 2x32GB and 4x32GB models.

    It would require higher density ICs to become available to actually build single rank 32GB modules. While those are on roadmaps and sampling, I don't think these will be used on retail DDR4 kits anytime soon.

      Thanks, yeah I had no idea what rank any of the 32GB modules were and couldn't get an answer from G.Skill so had to ask here and on Reddit and finally got one. Wish manufacturers would list it in the specs and make things easier for us.

        Anyone know which ICs are in their various 64GB kits below w/ 2x32GB DDR4-3600 C16 modules? Hynix? Samsung/Samsung (B-Die)? Just trying to make a decision. Appreciate it.

          Also you won't ever find the "B-Die" (Samsung 8Gbit B-Die) on 32GB modules*. If you want those you need to go the 4x16GB route instead.

          *The old DC-DIMM models were a very special exception, that only worked on compatible 1DPC motherboards.

            I have no idea what ICs exist and don't really care what they are, I just wanted to know what my options are and decide from there. There's very little info available on the 32GB sticks, or it is hard to find. Thanks for your help.

            I'm basically choosing between Crucial 2x32GB DDR4-3600 C16 and the G.Skill. Only difference I can see is the timings are a tiny bit better with Crucial. Either one should be fine for me as overclocking isn't super important, but I still will do it in certain situations. I want 2x32GB because I may go to 128GB one day, though it'll end up being quad rank, but I can still live with that. I'm going to be running a number of VMs, working with some huge 4K videos, operating some very large databases/queries, and doing some serious day trading with various tradings applications simultaneously.

            Appreciate it.

              AMD Ryzen 3000, 4000 and 5000 all are best with DDR4-3200 which is the design speed for the processors.

                That depends what "best" means. I just got Crucial DDR4-3600 CL16 2x32GB for the same price as DDR4-3200 CL16, and I'm very sure what I got is better than the 3200, even if by only a little.

                  When I bought RAM for my R5 3600 I selected Flare X DDR4-3200 which is CL16 with AMD friendly tables and I tested the RAM on an Intel box which works too

                  Faster RAM simply has more wait states, the RAM only has so much speed to read the memory cells which is why wait states are used.

                      I have 4x8GB at present which seems to be adequate for gaming, maybe when DDR5 ships I will move to 4x16GB which is even more overkill

                      If you are doing electronic data processing then you needs may be for more RAM
