    Built system 5 weeks ago with intention to load Windows 7 Professional 64 bit up-grade. Started with blank hard drive, installed Windows XP with service pack 2. Was told by Microsoft that I had to do this because I was upgrading, is this true? I got a special deal because I am a college student. Was able to load Windows 7 but it took some work. After installing windows 7, my system was unstable, got BSOD many times. I never got a good look at error codes because they flashed quickly or system would crash when it was idle and no one was using it. I flashed bios to F9. I tested both memory sticks and slots 1 and 3 with no issues. Installed latest drivers for MOB, printer, scanner and video card. Started to have booting issues. Reinstalled operating system several times to try to get system stable and to boot. Finally decided to just install windows xp and see what happens. Been using XP for 3 weeks with no issues other than Microsoft explorer locking up every once in a while. Would really like to upgrade to windows 7, but I am tired of fitting this build and I really don?t know what to try next. Does anyone have any advice?

    Enable XMP in BIOS, then reinstall Windows 7.

    Thank you

        Nope, that's not what he means

        Here's what you need to do;

        Enter BIOS

        Choose first option in the BIOS Menu which is MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T)
        Open that menu
        Scroll down to Advanced Memory Settings
        Open that menu
        The first option in the Advanced Memory Settings is Extreme Memory Profile(X.M.P.) default setting is [Disabled] change that to [Enabled]

        Save changes and exit. Reboot.

          XMP already set to profile1. The 2 available states are disable and profile1.

            That would be the correct xmp profile then. You have two options.

            Try to further tweak the BIOS settings to get your rig stable or RMA the memory.
