  • 4G PC2-8000C5 On Asus P5Q Pro

    I've just installed the P5Q Pro, with my E6750 and have managed to get the cpu to 3.6 (450 x 8) with 4G G.Skill PC2-8000C5 at 900 5-5-5-15 1:1 and 4 hours Prime stable.

The problem is that if I try to get the ram to over 1000, it fails Prime in a few seconds.

Here's they are and any advice greatly appreciated.

    8 x 450 - 3.6
FSB Strap - 333 (tried 400, failed to boot)
DDR2 1081 (gets into Vista, but fails Prime within seconds)
    5-5-5-15
    CPU - 1.4125v
    Dram - 2.1v
    NB - 1.3v
    SB - 1.2v

    I have the lastest bios.

    so...is it stable to run at DDR2 1000 CL5 @2.1v?

      Thanks GSKILL.

If I run the cpu at stock, the memory runs stable at 1000.

If I run the stable cpu overclock, 8 x 450, the ram is only stable at 900, so far and the next option is 1081.

Maybe it's a trade off, 3.6 cpu and 900, or lower the fsb and maybe get the ram at 1000 or higher, seems odd though, I can't see why I shouldn't have the 3.6 plus stock memory, which I'd settle with at the moment.

What would be the gain between the memory at 900 and 1000, is it really worth all this hassle?

Any more advice would be welcome.

it's about FSB: DRAM Frequency ratio
it is more difficult to run with 1:1 ratio
not every pair can run DDR2 1000 at 1:1 ratio
or you could try to add FSB voltage, it may help
        thanks

I've seated the ram in the other dual slots, changed all the voltages and can only get the ram to run at 900 stable.

I don't want to lower the fsb and lose the cpu overclock and at 450, the only options are 900 or 1081, which I think is a pretty small overclock and should be achievable.

Looks like 900, or some different ram then.

Cheers for your help mate, but it looks like a compatibility issue to me.

if you would like to run DDR2 1081, we'd prefer you to choose our DDR2 1066 product
it would be easier to reach DDR2 1081
            thanks

I am having a similar problem but on XP pro 64.

My issue is when I try to run 8GB of 2x(2x2) PC-8500 I get instant blue screens if windows even manages to load.

This seems to only happen when I try to run it on 1002-1066.

When I turn the Mobo on auto, It runs it at 800 and this is stable for all 8 GB.

I turned the voltage to 2.0V.

My question is, is there a way to make the memory work properly at 1066 since the ASUS P5Q Pro is supposed to be able to run memory all the way up to 1200.

              I'm running:
              Asus P5Q pro
              Intel E8400
              Nvidia 8800GT Evga
              trying to run 8GB 2x(2x2) G.Skill PC-8500
              power supply is 750W

EDIT: I thought the system was stable when running the 8GB at a clock speed of 800, but it's not. Every new file downloaded from the internet, or from a CD or flash drive, becomes "Corrupted".
Therefore Game patchers are failing, downloads will not install, and new files created are un-openable.

to run with 4 sticks, you'll need to add FSB voltage
                thanks
