  • Dual vs. Quad DDR4 Kit Differences

Can you tell me what the differences are, specifically, in the two kits F4-3200C14Q-32GTZSW and F4-3200C14Q-32GTZ?

One is X99/Quad and one is Z170/Dual.

Specifically, are the timings the same and other differences differentiate (perhaps physical), or are the timings different? If the timings, please elaborate. I know the colors are different, but I'm curious regarding the XMP setup differences.

    Thanks.

Timings are the same. Physically there is only a difference of color. XMP is different because the advanced timings and Voltages are designed for the specific platform. So if you want to use XMP, make sure to use a motherboard on the G.Skill QVL list. Otherwise, expect manual tweaking.

Interesting. Besides timings, what else is controlled by XMP then? I know voltages, but what else that makes these two kits different?

      Appreciate the info.

Nothing, just XMP designed and tested on/for a specific platform.

The RAM may work on other platforms with manual settings, but for optimal XMP results, a certified motherboard on the G.Skill QVL list is highly recommended.
