Default G.Skill DDR3-1600 Ares Red and ASRock Z97 Extreme 6

Hi everyone,

One month ago my old motherboard just died. This was an ASUS P8Z77-v pro with an i7 2700K. For memory I had 4 DIMM DDR3-1600 G.Skill Ares Red (this was actually 2 kits of F3-1600C9D-16GAR) for a total of 32GB.

When the P8Z77-v pro died I took the decision to upgrade my configuration from Sandy Bridge to Haswell to keep my 32GB working. Unfortunatly I'm facing a compatibility issue between the ASRock Z97 Extreme 6 with a i7 4790K and my 2 kits of F3-1600C9D-16GAR.

When I plug only 2 DIMM (in black or blue slots -> it doesn't matter) it works. But when I try to put all of my 4 DIMM I get a 55 error code (meaning memory error) and my computer just doesn't boot.

So I was thinking about a motherboard failure and replaced him with a new one (thank's Amazon for the quick shipping) and unfortunately it doesn't fix my problem. So I tried a lot of combinaison by swapping pairs (should doesn't matter and actually doesn't change anything), updating the BIOS, change the memory voltage to 2.52V, check each DIMM with Memtest86+ (no issues detected) and nothing changed my problem.

On the ASRock website I can't find my memory model into the compatibility list but on the G.Skill website my kit is actually listed as compatible.

So at this moment my computer run with only 2 DIMM (meaning 16GB of RAM) and I don't really now what to do. Sometimes when I put a couple of DIMM in blue slots I get a 55 error code (if I swap DIMM couples and re-put these DIMM into blue slot that fix the 55 error code).

So my problem is that I can't run my computer with my 32GB that I need for virtualisation.

How could I fix that ? Does someone has already have this issue ?

Thank's in advance for your help.

Did you check to see if the other pair can work in the system by itself? If it is a matching problem between the two memory kits, you can send them in for a single kit of 32GB that should work flawlessly.

Hi,

I checked both kits and they're working perfecly only if I put one kit at a time. If I put both kits on the same time (4 DIMM used) I get the 55 error code (memory error).

What is the reference for the replacement kit ?
