  • F3-16000CL9D-4GBFLS and Crosshair IV and 1090T Best OC settings?

I was wondering if anyone out there is running the F3-16000CL9D-4GBFLS kit with a regular ASUS Crosshair IV formula board and a Phenom II 1090T processor? I'm having some trouble getting stable OC settings and would appreciate any input on what the best settings people have been able to do with this combo so far.

I believe there was a similar thread on the topic a few months back which the GskillTech said he was able to get around 1900 mhz on the RAM and 4GHZ+ on the CPU
but no actual OC settings were posted. I understand it may be impossible to get a 4GHZ OC on the CPU with the RAM at 2GHZ. So far I can't get that combo stable.

Raise the CPU-NB Voltage to stabilize the higher memory frequency. This should be all you need to do besides inputting the basic memory settings.

    Thank you

Check my sig, this is with my CPU clock at 255 (actually runs at 255.8MHz)

      CPU/NB voltage: 1.275v
      NB voltage: 1.25v
      NB 1.8v voltage: Auto
      HT voltage: 1.25v

Note: Run the modules in the outside, black slots to reduce stress on the IMC.
The Crosshair IV, 1090T, and Flare DDR3-2000 is a dynamite combination.
Feel free to send me a PM if you need additional help or info.

        Any CL9D input?

Thanks for the quick replys, I see you have the CL7, unfortunately I'm running the CL9 (only type I could find for sale), just wondering what your CPU voltage is set at?

CL9 is the same, in fact, it should actually be more difficult to set up. But the only differences are setting the timings to CL7, and finding the proper CPU-NB Voltage for CL9 not CL7.

          Thank you

            With CPU clock as stated above, CPU@ 4.10GHz & NB@ 2815MHz:

            CPU Voltage: 1.462500v
            CPU VDDA Voltage: 2.525000v

            CPU Load Line Calibration: Enable
            CPU/NB Load Line Calibration: Enable
            CPU Spread Spectrum: Disable
            PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disable

Run two passes (each after boot up) of HyperPI 32M on all six cores to test initial stability.
Then run further stability test like Prime or IntelBurn Test or for me, BFBC2 is the ultimate torture test.

Well after several hours of trying the recommended settings to no avail (memtest failed on Test #5 each time) I just stumbled upon the following...

All I did was just take the CPU voltage and CPU-NB voltage to the last yellow setting for each upped the FSB to 240 and the Multiplier to 17.5, everything else is set to [AUTO].

Things seem relatively stable so far, but if there's any suggestions for improving NB frequency or HT link speed, I'd be happy to hear them as they seem to be running at their bare minimums so far.

I've passed stability testing with my NB above 3000MHz.
You really don't need it that high, only for benching and gaming if it can handle it.
Take small steps, set your NB around 2400-2600MHz with NB/CPU Voltage at 1.275v.
No real world (or benching) advantage by overclocking the HT Link.
HT Link Speed can be in the 2000-2200MHz range.

                Other settings to consider:

                HT Link Voltage: 1.25v
                NB Voltage: 1.25v
                NB 1.8v Voltage: Auto

                  Best Achieved Settings

Well after much tweaking and using the recommendations of Nem007 and GskillTech I was able to achieve the OC settings in the banner above and a NB +HT OC of 3130.5 mhz.

I had to up the CPU/NB voltage to 1.363ish V or so and the NB+HT voltage to 1.275. The CPU voltage was set to just over 1.48 but the system has rounded it to 1.5V.

Using stability programs that don't generate much heat (ie. HyperPI to 32M places and one test of Intel Burn), things are rock solid stable. However Prime95 heats up too quickly for my H70 cooler to keep up and causes a system lockup once the CPU reaches 62C or so.

The main thing is that my system is now better with this RAM kit than the previous one I had in there, so I'll probably keep these settings.

                    Congrats!

I do not recommend running your HT Link Speed at that high of frequency.
We have verified at the AMD forums that it can hinder a CPU overclock when it gets too high.
Like I stated earlier, the HT Link Speed sweet spot is 2000-2200MHz.
