  • EVGA Z97 FTW/ G3258 with 8 gig F3-2666C11D-8GTXD

I just built a new gaming and over clocking rig with the EVGA Z97 FTW MoBo with Intel Pentium G3258 anniversary edition with a 2x4gb F3-2666C11D-8GTXD kit. From what I understand the memory controller of the G3258 will only go up to DDR1333, if this is indeed the case what timings should I use to minimize latency at the 1333 speed until I upgrade to a 4790K and really let this memory run wide open.

    Any help is much appreciated!

Don't worry about DDR3-1333, the G3258 is not limited to that and usually does DDR3-2666 like a pro

I thought from my research that even if you set 2666 in the bios that the CPU's memory controller would throttle it down to 1333?

Z97 gives you access to all the memory dividers.

Technically the CPUs memory controller is only specified for DDR3-1600, but the same can be said for 4690K/4790K and people use high performance memory with those all the time.

Okay so aside from the 11-13-13-35 should I leave all the other timings to Auto or just go withe XMP profile?

Just try the XMP first. If that fails, you can always fall back to manual settings (timings, voltages).
