  • Gigabyte X399 Aorus Gaming 7 & TridentZ RGB F4-3200C14Q-32GTZRX

    Hi,

I just ordered this ram and hoping it'll work XMP with my Gigabyte Aorus X399 Gaming 7 Threadripper 1950x rig: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16820232650

I've tried several kits of ram (5 total):
    3 GSkill - TridentZ RGB DDR4-3600 4x8gb CL16 & CL17, DDR4-4000 4x8gb (Gigabyte QVL downclocked to 3600)
    2 Corsair - Dominator DDR4-3200 8x8gb (Gigabyte QVL) & DDR4-3200 Vengeance RGB (Gigabyte QVL).

Some were on the motherboard QVL and some not and only 1 of those 5 was stable XMP (Corsair Vengeance RGB). The fastest stable boot was GSkill DDR4-3600 CL16, but it lost XMP every reboot, set XMP then boot and was stable otherwise. I suspect that ram would work if Gigabyte fixed their BIOS.

I'm hoping this GSkill kit works. It's the faster DDR4-3200 kit and love the RGB on it, and it's on GSkill's QVL for my mobo.

I'll report back Wednesday 11/22/2017 after receiving the ram.

3600 C16 kit you attempted 3600 XMP specs?

BIOS is not ready yet so you have to run at a lower frequency until BIOS can support higher

I got the same ram kit for my Asrock X399 Taichi. Runs fine @ 3200 after turning on XMP. RGB software does not work. Tried all the tricks on this forum(uninstalling reinstalling, removing asrock RGB, swapping to different ram slots, running asus aura, etc), but nothing works. It just can't detect the modules so I'm stuck with rainbow.

Yeah I tried XMP using 3600 CL16. It was the best kit of the GSkill I tested. Totally stable AIDA64, but lost XMP every reboot. I thought about waiting for a BIOS update, but I purchased a 4 x 8gb GSkill TridentZ RGB AMD 3200 CL14 kit which arrives tomorrow

            Undermoose,

That's great! Did you happen to get the RGB controller to work on your board?

I haven't attempted that yet, and with the stories surrounding this software I may just live with rainbow a'la Aorus!

Curiosity will eventually get the better of me though I imagine.

                Have you tried

Have you tried this kit? It seems to be the recommended one from GSkill, but I've also noticed a lot of people going with the Trident RGB for the ThreadRippers. I'm also trying to find the fastest kit with compatibility for these new CPU's. I was looking to purchase an ASRock Fatal1ty X399 (seemed to have the best reviews of all x399 mobo's).

As I mentioned, this kit works great: F4-3200C14Q-32GTZRX

No need to test anything else at the moment!
