  • Win7 and SSD-HD: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible

I have an Intel i5, Windows 7 Ultimate, and an SSD as my main drive and 2 SATA HDDs.

One day, I got a BSOD appeared and my PC restarted restarted. After that, the following error appeared:

Window failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
    1.Insert ....
    2. .... ... status: 0xc000000e info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible

Also I noticed that BIOS only detected one of HDDs, not SSD neither other HDD.

Sometimes, Windows can be started, but it doesn't work very well.
When trying to copy data from F: to an external USB, it copies for a short time and then Win7 becomes unresponsive. This also happens in safe mode.

After several reboots, now Windows will not boot and I get the error "The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible." And the BIOS only detects the SSD.

    UPDATE: my disks:

    HDDs

    WDC WD10EARS-22Y5B1

    Seagate ST31000528AS

    SSD

    FM-25S2S-120GBP2 - G.SKILL

    Any suggestions?

please back up all of your data and update the latest version of firmware 4.2 (secure erase first),
when you re-install the OS, make sure AHCI mode is selected.

            Hi

I had the same problem. Same disk. This is my forum thread and how I solved it.

            http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=11995

It took me almost a year. Last night, I could solve it.

I had to downgrade firmware from 4.2 to 4.0

My SSD came with v4.0 and after I updated to 4.2 it started to dissapear.

Don't know... maybe it could help you.

You can do it with Gskill tool for firmware update.

When the tool detects your SSD, it shows you the serial number and the firmware version in the window.

                See the link: http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=5721

Remember to launch the tool as "Administrator". If you only double click on the "exe", it will no see your SSD.

                Best regards.
