Default Can these two G.Skill kits be run together?

G.Skill DDR3 8GB (2x4) Kit

G.skill DDR3 16GB (2x8) Kit

Also, before someone jumps up and down and posts "just buy DDR4!!!".....

Thats, not on option right now.

I need to upgrade a DDR3 rig to 16GB or more.

I was told that I could get a 2x8 kit and run it along side my 2x4 kit, just as long as they had the same speed, timings, voltage, etc... and thus I would have 24GB of Ram in the system.

Separate kits are not guaranteed to run together because they were not tested in that order from factory. So if you wish to simply add more RAM into the system, you will need to test and see if the kits can work together, and at what speed. Otherwise, it is advised to use a single kit of RAM in each system.
