  • Just sent my DDR4 off for RMA...what to expect?

A bit of background I originally bought this ram set November of 2015 for my Intel Skylake build. Had some issues with the ram then but I decided to just bear the random crashes.

This is the exactt set: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16820231941

I have recently built as my main rig a Ryzen 1700X system. Since these are d-die of course there was some issue... But I managed to get the ram "stable" at 3200 before the latest bios update to 1.0.7, however Ryzen is much more sensitive to bad ram. I could not pass any HCL memtest nor mem86+ in dos.

When I was building my new Ryzen rig I did not really pay attention to the preferred ram needed with Ryzen lol I figured my G.skill Ripjaws V would work just fine.

Anyhow, what time frames am I looking at? I am in the USA and shipping to CA with 2 day delivery.

Just wanted to shout a BIG THANK YOU ON THE EASE AND FAST RMA SERVICE

I originally bought the G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16-GVKB For my skylake system. I had problems back then with the one stick being sort of bad...mostly worked but windows would crash and I just lived with.

Built me a new Ryzen system, and Ryzen is whole lot more sensitive to RAM errors.

The pair of sticks I sent in were Samsung Dual rank D-Die per Thaiphoon. Anyhow I was able to get them working at 3200...well working with crashes with the bad stick.

      Well y'all sent me back G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GVKB

With different memory, not Samsung but Hynix M-die.

Well first things first. Installed it in my Ryzen system, and right off the bat selected DOCP Standard and it detected, booted and went into Windows 10 will no issue at 3200. However the timings were quite loose.

Here is what I have accomplished after spending today with tweaking the timings with this set 2 X 8GB with the Single Rank Hynix M-die on my Ryzen 1700X /ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero (WI-FI AC) AMD Ryzen AM4

Note I have my 1700X overclocked to 4075. Here are the Cinebench R15 and Cpu-Z bench...as the ram just works and really helps the this Ryzen build really shine. Note my Cinebench score and don't be jealous. Benches ran earlier today.

Aida64 Cache and Memory Bench with the Hynix M-die I just ran:

I can get this set to boot at 3333 but did not feel like working on the timings. I am betting I can squeeze more gains with some more timing tuning.

Once again a BIG THANK Y'ALL

      Just thought I would share.
