  • Overclock question - ASrock H87 - I5 4670K - F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

    Greetings!

This is my first post. Woo hoo!

    I am running the ASrock H87 Mobo and DDR3 1600 RAM (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL)

The BIOS will not allow me to go above 1600. That's the highest setting available and there are no choices beyond that.

Are XMP's installable or are they burned in to the RAM?

Anyone else running the H87 Mobo?

I've played with timings and have been able to improve performance by tightening up the timings, but I'd like to exceed the seemingly max 1600 setting.

Other PC details: Watercooled and OC'd to 4.7 ghz, GTX 760 SC OC'd +200mhz, Evo 840 SSD, 16G total RAM, etc...

    Thanks for your help!

H87, H81 and B85 have no access to higher memory dividers. Those are only available with a Z87/Z97 mainboard.

The XMP is part of the SPD information within an EEPROM on the modules themselves.
